We think parents' views are important and we want to hear from you. This is your chance to tell us how well supported you are and what the Scottish Government can do to help you. At the national Parents as Partners conference in June some parents were asking for a national body to represent their views and we want to find out what your thoughts are on this.
If you have a view on this, please let your Parent Council know, so that your comments can be included in their response to the survey. We want as many Parent Councils as possible to fill in the questionnaire, so that we can find out what parents' views are.
A 'national body' is an organisation that can support parents in Scotland. Whether it is there to represent parents' views, or provide support and training, or to encourage networking and communication between Parent Councils, we want to know your views.
There is more information in our briefing paper and there is also a questionnaire for Parent Councils to fill in. Please note that only one questionnaire should be filled in per Parent Council. Any questions that you have on the survey can be addressed to Carole Millar (carole.millar@blueyonder.co.uk). When the questionnaire has been completed it should be saved onto a computer, and then emailed as an attachment to carolemillar@carolemillarresearch.co.uk.
Ideally, the survey should be completed by Christmas, but the final deadline for responses is 31 January 2009.
As well as carrying out the survey, our researchers will also be meeting with a range of parental groups and will be taking part in a few regional events. A report will be written in the spring of 2009 which will be given to Scottish Government so that we can decide how best we can help you.
